Adventures in Weight Loss - The Beginning

*Sigh* Well I'm back to work in 2 months plus a week. Last night I started going through the closet to see what fit and what didn't... sadly the "didn't" pile is very very large. I boxed up what didn't fit and now my closet has 4 pieces of work clothing in it... I have 3 options in front of me... buy new clothing, convince work to change the dress code to sweatpants and PJ's or lose weight... So we now embark on the adventures of weight loss...

I was overweight before the pregnancy, then I gained 49 lbs growing my boy and it's not coming off as well as I would like... I have a goal to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy plus substantial more.

The first step is writing down my goals... there is a harvard study that shows that students who have written goals are 10x more likely to succeed in achieving those goals. So here we go...

Before pregnancy, I was 172 lbs... I topped out at 221 lbs and now am completely stuck at 192 lbs. I want to weigh 140 lbs but that is a long term goal... my immediate concern is getting back into my work clothing. I have 69 days to lose 20-25 lbs... to keep it healthy, my goal has to be 172 lbs by August 16...

That is 2 lbs per week...

Now it's time to make the plan!!!

You can do it. I know you can. Maybe start with a cleanse? It will get your metabolism boosted and get you going in the right direction. What else are you doing?

Oh I so want to do a cleanse... my favorite cleanse is the Isagenix one which unfortunately is a bit costly... For now, I'm doing calorie reduced diet and increasing my activity level...

This is an interesting post. Calotren is essentially a weight-loss supplement but if you can also look younger besides losing weight, then it is surely worth its weight in gold. You should however, have the patience of taking Calotren regularly for 90 days along with exercise and a balanced diet.

Keep at it!! It is hard work, but worth it.

Don't forget you've got support-I know a lot of people who have tried to lose weight but have just had problems because they are trying to go about it all alone.

Also, I spell my name the same way you do and since I only very rarely encounter another Shelagh, I just thought I'd point it out :D

Best of luck!

Ahem! Is someone just buying new clothes?

Oddly enough, it was the need not to buy new clothes was my motivation to lose weight. During my second pregnancy, I was up to 169 lbs. It took me a year to lose the weight. I was down to 138 lbs but still not at my usual weight. I was glad that I didn't have to buy new clothes b/c I have way too many in my closet already.

Good luck, and I hope you reach your goal soon. Also, think positive thoughts.

Okay, so I saw your blog and this post and was like "OMG! ME TOO!" I have 13 1/2 month old little girl :) and I gained 50 lbs with my pregnancy! Before I got prego I was 135-140, by the end of my pregnancy I weighed in at 190-195! Now I have been STUCK at 150 + the ridiculous belly that us moms get.. I have been on a search for a plan to start and Ive had no real luck! Just excercising here and there! And the clothes thing...me too! All I wear these days are tshirts, yoga pants, etc! And since I am an army wife and my man HAS to stay in shape...I feel like the bigger wife...ya know? Anyways just wanted to say that we're in the same boat! and if you find a great plan let me know! if i find one, i'll let you know! have a great day and GOODLUCK!

Same thing for me but I'm just fat in general. Meaning no baby was inside me but at one point it did look like it. Lol. Good luck! You can do it, just stay focused and motivated. What you should do is get your family involved in the diet because if your cooking 2 different meals it will be harder for you to keep with your diet.

I am about the same weight as you and struggle with my weight. I feel like I'm constantly gaining with no control, but honestly I feel like all I need is to exercise more because I don't eat extremely unhealthy ect. I think that the hardest part for me is sticking to a routine, but I wanted to let you know you aren't alone! I hope you can reach your goal plus some =)

I have been blogging within this same topic for merely 2 years now, - what I have often believed is that it needs time to work to be able to overcome with this thing. But when I read your post, I was genuinely amazed that there are a lot of ways to go about it and have and even much better benefits.
